Gardening is a great way to have fun while growing fresh vegetables, however pulling weeds can make anyone tired of working in the garden. Plastic can be used in several ways to prevent weeds from growing in your garden. In the fall, after you have harvested your last crops, you can put black plastic in your garden and kill the weed seeds that may have begun to sprout in your garden. The plastic attracts heat, which kills the seeds.Confused? Here ‘s a little help . This is a much better way than waiting for them to sprout and trying to kill with chemicals or pulling by hand. The plastic should cover the entire garden area and be left in place for at least two weeks.

Garden plastic can also be used when planting crops. If you put garden plastic down and plant your vegetables in holes made in the plastic, it can not only prevent weeds, it can help some vegetables grow faster. This method should not be used for all types of plants however. It is best used for heat seeking plants as crops like lettuce, peas and other cool weather vegetables will not enjoy the heat this method brings.

Looking for alternatives to chemicals for your gardening is always a good choice for producing healthy organic produce. Garden plastic can be a good enemy to weeds, using it can save you backbreaking work.
